DeSantis vs Disney and the Rule Against Perpetuities

The Internet and the media are going wild over the Disney lawyers’ use of the rule against perpetuities that essentially makes the new DeSantis-controlled board powerless. The agreements that Disney signed with the former board before the new appointments took over effectively gives Disney total autonomy over the zone they have operated on with relative independence for the last 50 years. The terms of the agreement are effective “until twenty one (21) years after the death of the last survivor of the descendants of King Charles III, King of England living as of the date of this Declaration.”
