Hi everyone! I came across this article discussing the “future of radio”. It states that an Ohio-based media company has created RadioGPT – the “world’s first-ever radio platform powered by artificial intelligence”.
The technology will scan online news sources for interesting topics, then create and read a script itself with “personalities”. It will also be used to automate several other tasks (e.g., creating/editing social media and blog posts, editing videos, etc.).
It was interesting to see that the company’s CEO considered this an attempt to “save radio, not compete with it”, while it obviously could have a negative impact on future employment in the industry. However, it was stated that already 7/10 “air shifts” are unmanned, so perhaps this is just a continuation of an already evolving industry?
By mid-April, this technology is expected to debut in Canadian radio stations.
